Crocs on Tour > 2004-05 > Preston North End
Preston North End - Tuesday 05/04/05

Lancashire on a Tuesday night - its a dream come true really. The 6 hour trip to Preston was a daunting one to say the least, but the fact that we would return at 4 in the morning did not put off the dedicated Crocs on Tour. With Brighton having lost 5 games in a row prior to this match, no-one was expecting anything from play-off chasing Preston, whose Deepdale ground also holds the National Football Museum.

Mode of Transport:
The Costa Express was packed to the rafters, as we mounted Liz for this exciting game.
Team:
An unorthodox 4-5-1 line up of: Blayney, Reid, Butters, Dolan, Harding, Hart, Carpenter, Hammond, Oatway, Jones, Virgo.
Kit:
Preston wore a fantastic all white number, that looked particularly good on Eddie Lewis. The Seagulls went with the all yellow away strip, while Alan Blayney wore a green goalkeepers jersey, coupled with black shorts and stockings.
Mark McGhee's Attire:
With the warmer weather approaching, Mr McGhee chose to go with his usual suit, coupled with a white shirt and no tie.
Weather:
A fine Lancashire evening, with a slight breeze wafting through the city.
Stadium Rating:
Deepdale is now a modern footballing arena, apart from one stand that is so old its fabulous. The National Football Museum also being at the stadium gives it even greater prestige. 8/10.
Food Rating:
Simply magnificent. The hotdogs inside the stadium were of mammoth proportions, and well worth the £2.80 paid for them. So much so, McCarthy bought 2. 8/10
Entertainment:
Nothing was on offer at all. 0/10
Friendliness of Locals:
Extremely unfriendly. Preston seemed to be full of little chavs, who took great pleasure in throwing stuff at our coach as we left the town. -5/10.
Standard of Local Females:
No noticeable Preston North End females were around the stadium. 0/10
Flag Attention:
Tom Stewart did not make today's trip, so the flag was at home.
Match Report:
Brighton made it 6 defeats in a row, as they conceded a 6th penalty in their last 5 away games. That was only the start, as Gary Hart was sent off, and Preston went onto net 2 more, winning 3-0 to consolidate their play-off spot, and to push Brighton into the relegation zone on a dismal night in Lancashire
Thought of the Day:
Building from a previous thought of a circle of men doing each other from behind, we discussed the prominence of a figure of 8, and how the joining part would have to be tightly constructed.
