Mode
of Transport:
A special offer was taken advantage of as we took
the train into London, then made the short journey
out of Stratford to Southend |
 |
Team:
Micky went with a 4-4-2 formation consisting of:
Kuipers, Whing, Elphick, Hawkins, Richards; Cox,

Southend were in their traditional home kits of
dark blue shirts, dark blue shorts and dark blue
stockings. The Albion were in their home kits
of blue and white striped shirts, white shorts
and white socks. Michel Kuipers wore a red jersey
completed with black and white trim, and rounded

Stadium
Rating:
Roots Hall features all the hallmarks of a classic
footballing venue. Away fans are housed behind
the goal, where a barrel-style roof allows for
a superb atmosphere. Two old school stands flank
the sides, while a double decker affair stands
at the opposite end. The common room/restaurant
complete with tables was still in use. 6/10

Food
Rating:
The hotdogs were delightful and of the lubricated
penis variety, and once again came alongside a
plate. 8/10 |
 |
Entertainment:
A mascot that resembled a Ku Klux Klan member
was about as good as it got. 3/10 |
 |
Friendliness
of Locals:
We met some very friendly locals on our travels
throughout the town, although they were diluted
by their fair share of Essex chav types. A disappointing
lack of Vauxhall Corsas were on show. 5/10

Standard
of Local Females
A few Essex girls were spotted on our wander through
the town centre, including one behind the bar
in Wetherspoons. Unfortunately, we were unable
to pass judgement on their standard due to the
thick coating of make up masking any blemishes.

No problems encountered, allowing
fans to stand. 8/10 |

Flag
Attention:
We were unable to gauge the attention of the flag
as it is currently in Nottingham. Somewhere

Match
Report:
Following the burial of the Crewe Alexandra away
jinx on the opening day, the Albion ended their
30 year barren run at Roots Hall with a 2-0 victory
to send them to the top of the league one table.
Goals from strikers Nicky Forster and Glen Murray
where enough to send the three points to Sussex,
thanks in part to a superb defensive performance
followed by a convincing second half that will
fill Albion fans with hope for the remainder of
the season |

Thought
of the Day:
If a local library was shut for maintenance work,
would book worms instead take refuge at a station
and read train timetables instead? |
