Wycombe Wanderers - Monday 28/12/09

Concerning though it is to have a six pointer before the turn of the year, the trip to Adams Park very much came under that umbrella. With both sides struggling at the wrong end of the table, defeat for Gus Poyet's men would be nothing short of disastrous. Having already made the trip to Wycombe this year with a thrilling 4-4 draw in the FA Cup under the temporary stewardship of Martin Hinshelwood following Russell Slade's sacking, the Albion would he hoping that a similarly attacking performance could be complicated by an improvement in defence and a much needed three points

Mode of Transport:
The train was taken from Sussex via Marleybone to High Wycombe at a ludicrous departure time of 8.01am, with arrival in Buckinghamshire at 10.20am
Team:
Gus picked a 4-4-2 line up consisting of: Brezovan, Hoyte, Elphick, El Abd, McNulty; Bennett, Navaro, Dicker, Cox; Murray, Forster
Kit:
Wycombe lined up in their home uniforms consisting of light blue and dark blue quarters, dark blue shorts and dark blue and light blue socks. The Albion appeared in red and black striped shirts, red shorts and red socks. Pete Brezovan went for the white goalkeepers jersey with black shorts and socks
Gus Poyet's Attire:
Gustavo returned a touch of style to the dugout with the suit that he wore on his debut as manager, coupled with a tracksuit jacket to ward off the cold English weather
Weather:
Snow and ice covered the ground of Wycombe on a cold and clear day
Stadium Rating:
Adams Park is shared with rugby union giants London Wasps. A small main stand that is raised above pitch level lines one side of the pitch, with a large, two tiered effort opposite. Away fans are housed behind one goal in a decent sized seated stand, while behind the other goal is a small covered terrace. 7/10
Food Rating:
McCarthy is now no longer a vegetarian, and celebrated with a large lubricated penis that was described as satisfactory. Mendoza however purchased a scorching pie, which he was forced into leaving to cool down for around twenty minutes before it was at an edible temperature. 6/10
Entertainment:
A half time penalty shoot out featuring children was enjoyable, especially for the pedophiles in the crowd. 7/10
Friendliness of Locals:
The local taxi drivers and those we met in public houses around the stadium were fine people. If not a little freakish. 8/10
Standard of Local Females:
No really attractive women were seen in the town or around the stadium area. Those who were resembled animals. 3/10
Steward Rating:
Happy to let Albion fans get on with their day, with one delightful man even welcoming fans into the car park. 8/10
Flag Attention:
The Crocs flag was not taken to this game
Match Report:
Trailing 2-1 at half time, a half-time (spit) roasting from Gus Poyet saw the Albion turn it around in the second half to pick up a remarkable 5-2 victory. Appalling defending saw Wycombe take the lead, before Glen Murray pulled one back with an overhead kick. Peter Brezovan then decided to drop the ball onto an attackers foot as the home side restored their league, but a Forster striker and a further three from Murray to take his total for the day to four saw the Seagulls home to a remarkable result
Thought of the Day:
Watching the South Africa v England test match in a pub prior to kick off, a comment was made regarding the small crowd present with the line "Isn't cricket big in South Africa?". The response was a simple "not as big as rape or murder"
