Mode
of Transport:
Train was the easiest and cheapest means with
which to travel to Southampton |
 |
Team:
A 4-4-2 line-up was employed consisting of:
Ankergren, Calderon, Greer, El Abd, Painter;
Dicker, Kishishev, Battipiedi, Bennet; Wood,
Barnes |
 |
Kit:
Southampton were in what can only be described
as a God-awful kit of white shirts with a red
sash, white shorts and black socks. The Albion
wore their home uniforms of blue and white
stripes, blue shorts and socks. Casper followed
in the feet of Sexy Pete's fashion statement the
previous week at Woking with a yellow shirt
teamed with black shorts and socks |
 |
Gus
Poyet's Attire:
It was an extremely cold night down the south
coast, so Gus went with his suit coupled with
large training overcoat |
 |
Weather:
A clear and dry night that was best described as
being arctic in temperature |
 |
Stadium
Rating:
It is only the colour of the seats that
distinguishes St Mary's from the Walkers
Stadium. Unlike at the Walkers though,
Southampton fans do generate a good atmosphere
inside their bowl and this means that it is a
decent place to visit. 7/10 |
 |
Food
Rating:
McCarthy purchased a large sausage baguette
outside the ground which was absolutely
delightful. However, seeing is this is a rating
for inside it cannot count. |
 |
Entertainment:
Nothing on offer bar some extremely
unprofessional man pratting about on the big
screen. 1/10 |
 |
Friendliness
of Locals:
Despite a heavy police presence expecting
trouble, the local fans we meeted and greeted
were extremely friendly and helpful. 8/10 |
 |
Standard
of Local Females:
Having wandered around the university while
lost, the conclusion was made that virtually
every student at Southampton Solent was fit.
Added to the unusually high number of pieces in
the Albion end of all places, it was a joyous
evening on which to be a male. 8/10 |
 |
Steward
Rating:
Allowed
Albion fans to stand and caused no problems at
all. 8/10 |
 |
Flag
Attention:
With a full travelling contingent of over 3000
fans making the trip, flag positions were
unlikely to be achieved and so she was left
behind |
 |
Match
Report:
The Albion returned from their toughest away
assignment to date with a point in a 0-0 draw at
Southampton that was dominated by the two
goalkeepers. The Saints controlled the first
half but found Casper Ankergren in inspired
form, while in the second half home keeper
Kelvin Davis pulled off a great penalty stop
from Chris Wood to ensure the game ended all

Thought
of the Day:
If you were going to make love to a water mellon,
would it be better to heat it up slightly in a
microwave first? |
