In a years time the American Express Community Stadium will have held its first football games. We decided to forego the beach and the riots in Brighton city centre by escaping on Bank Holiday Monday to Falmer to check out the latest progress. The East and West buildings are now free-standing, supported only by the arch. The brickwork is well underway on the outside of the stadium, and the first pieces of the roof are going into place on the north and south stands. From a distance, the place is really beginning to resemble a football stadium - and, despite all of the clubs claims that it would blend in with the surroundings, it sticks out like a sore thumb. A bloody brilliant sore thumb though

Claims from the club that the stadium would fit in with the surroundings have, so far, proven to be bollocks. Anyone who tries to say that that isn't a thing of natural beauty though is speaking it in equal amounts!	Looking across Village Way
