Four of Brighton’s first six Premier League games to be televised

Four of Brighton and Hove Albion’s first six Premier League games of the season will be televised, causing absolute carnage to the fixture list before we’ve made it to the end of September.

The season will be just one week old when we make our first appearance on the box with Manchester United’s visit to the Amex being shown live on Sky Sports on Sunday 19th August at 4pm. Sky will be hoping for an upset similar to the one that Chris Hughton’s side pulled off last year when winning 1-0 at the Amex to secure Premier League survival.

A week later, our August Bank Holiday clash with Liverpool also moves to a 5.30pm kick off on Saturday 25th August. Good luck to anybody wanting to do that as a day trip on public transport – complaints can be directed to BT Sport.

The trip to Southampton for the “67 miles apart South Coast Derby” moves to a Monday night on September 17th and will kick off at 8pm on Sky. Southampton is a ghastly city so we’re not actually too disappointed about this and it means we keep our excellent record of having played just one of our last seven games along the A27 on a Saturday.

Finally, Tottenham Hotspur will bring their annual quest to finish above Arsenal to the Amex on Saturday 22nd September, with a 5.30pm kick off to be shown on BT Sport.

All things considered, that isn’t too bad a draw with only Liverpool looking like an absolute nightmare logistically, but given the fact we managed only one goal away from home against the big six last season, anybody who is ruled out by the transport issues isn’t likely to miss much anyway.

It also means that the Albion’s trip to Manchester City takes place as scheduled on Saturday 29th September, a big bonus for those who missed the game last year due to the evening kick off or for those of us who don’t remember much of what happened due to the availability of Strongbow Dark Fruits on the Etihad Stadium concourse.
