Move it in May and help raise money for Albion in the Community

Want to spend May getting fitter and raise money for Albion in the Community at the same time? Then the charity’s Move It May campaign is just for you.

Albion in the Community are challenging people in Sussex to do 20 minutes of physical activity per day in May.

By seeking sponsorship from friends and family for committing to the cause, you can help AITC continue to deliver their lifechanging and award winning programmes across the county.

The recommended amount of weekly moderate intensity exercise the average adult needs to stay healthy is 150 minutes. So, 20 minutes per day for an entire month will help you hit that target.

Moderate intensity exercise is classed as anything that gets your heart rate up. It could be anything from a 20 minute jog to walking the dog to going for a swim.

If your favourite pub is a 10 minute walk away, you could walk there and back for a pint every day in May to achieve the target.

Okay, so that might undo all the good work of exercise, but at WAB Towers we find challenges much easier to complete when there is a beer or glass of wine involved.

Entry to the Move It May challenge is £10, which instantly swells the AITC coffers. Anyone who raises over £50 through sponsorship will receive a limited-edition medal. Raise £100 or more and you get a medal and a t-shirt.

After you have registered, you keep a log of your exercise throughout May. Once the month and the challenge have been completed, you send in proof of your activities to AITC by Monday 6th June to receive your certificate.

AITC are the official charity of the Albion. For more than 30 years, they have been using football to engage and inspire people to make good life choices and help reduce inequalities in our local communities in Sussex.

The charity supports an average of 400 individuals every year with a disability to be active through football. They deliver disability specific sessions such as Cerebral Palsy and Autism as well as fully inclusive sessions to enable everyone to be active.
