Planning a perfect Saturday at the football

Watching your favourite team play in their own stadium is an experience every football fan relishes. Standing in the crowd around thousands of like-minded fans, the atmosphere is electric while you chant and cheer for your team to win.

While purchasing your tickets is the way to make this experience happen, there is also a little bit of pre-planning needed to ensure your day runs smoothly and is as enjoyable as it can possibly be.

Sort out Your Travel Arrangements

Travelling to a stadium on game day can turn into a nightmare if you haven’t planned ahead. Public transport services will be stretched to the max during the hours before and after a game with hundreds of supporters piling onto train and bus services alike.

Plan ahead when it comes to travel and leave plenty of time to arrive, you’ll be truly disappointed if you miss the start of the match. Leave at least an extra half an hour to get there and book any necessary travel tickets beforehand. Check the National Rail service updates before you leave the house as there may very well be some delays. If you have friends and family members heading to the game also, why not club together for a taxi and avoid getting caught in the crowds.

Remember Your Tickets

Remember to pack your tickets in a small travel bag or secure coat pocket the night before. It would be devastating to arrive at the stadium and realise they’re still sat on the kitchen table, especially if you’re bringing the children to their first game. Try and have a digital copy of them as well, either a photo of the paper tickets or a confirmation email on your phone will do. They’ll always be staff at the stadium to help you out in an emergency.

Place Your Bets

Make the game you’re going to attend even more exciting by placing a small bet on Unibet. Check the latest sporting odds on your favourite team and place an amount you can afford to lose. The results are never guaranteed, and in football, anything can happen. If you’re luck’s in and your bet comes through, you can use the winnings to buy a celebratory round at the pub for everyone that attended with you.

Wrap Up Warm

No matter what time of year, English weather can be seriously unpredictable, and the stadium doesn’t always shelter you from the wind and rain. You’ll be exposed to the elements for a good few hours, so it’s best to wrap up warm or bring extra layers.

Even when the season kicks off in August, being sat in the shade up high in the stadium can be quite chilly. Windbreaker jackets are great as they’ll stop any blustery winds making you cold and can easily be packed into a small rucksack.

With all the above sorted you’ll just need to remember to take some spare cash for food supplies or any unexpected expenses. That way, you’ll never get caught short and will have an enjoyable day to remember.
