How it happened: Brighton & Hove Albion 0-0 Arsenal

Five days after Brighton had drawn 1-1 at Crystal Palace, Premier League action kicked off again with the Seagulls taking on Arsenal at the Amex.

The fixture held much promise of delivering an entertaining exchange between two sides who have found good recent form and were looking to carry this forward.

Brighton lined up without Adam Webster and Yves Bissouma due to injury but Dan Burn and Jakub Moder stepped up to the plate and looked to deliver for the Seagulls.

A familiar face with a £50 million price tag also was set to start, but this time Ben White was dressed in the red of Arsenal playing against the blue of Brighton for the first time in his career. Here is How it Happened:

The game kicked off in very difficult conditions as the rain was pouring down, creating a nightmare for defences.

Marc Cucurella provided attacking flare down the flank as he whipped in a cross which drifted across an open goal just begging to be converted.

After surviving that, it was Arsenal who started off strongest. The Gunners held possession but the Seagulls worked hard to change this around and the narrative decisively changed in favour of the blue and white.

A sequence of attacks were strung together well but Brighton were unable to find the back of the net going into the half time break as the score remained 0-0 after the first 45 minutes.

The second half continued in similar fashion to how things were left off with much promise and attacking threat being posed but without any decisive enough strike to ensure a lead was gained by either side.

Things were well poised going into the last 20 minutes as both teams upped their game, determined to walk away with the three points.

Robert Sanchez stepped up when he was needed as he denied a big chance from Emile Smith Rowe in the 76th minute. Graham Potter sought to change things up following the save with fresh legs.

Alexis Mac-Allister and Solly March were brought on to replace Moder and Pascal Gross in order to try and find a way to break the deadlock.

A couple of promising patches of play followed with a few quick fire shots being released as Brighton were spurred on by the wet yet passionate home crowd.

There was a late shout for a penalty after a foul on Shane Duffy in additional time. Referee Jonathan Moss waved it away and then wrapped the game up as it finished Brighton 0-0 Arsenal, each side taking a point away from the fixture.

This leaves Brighton currently sitting on 14 points, continuing a great start to the season. Duffy was rewarded with yet another man of the match performance, in close competition with Cucurella who also played exceptional football.

The Seagulls now have a bit of time before their next fixture away to bottom side Norwich as the international break commences. Stay tuned for more How it Happened from Carrow Road in a fortnight.
